Homeless woman killed in hit-and-run

Victim identified as Wendy Armstrong, 53; Driver sought

SAN ANTONIO – A 53-year-old woman was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver just north of downtown late Wednesday evening.

Police were called to the intersection of Dewey Place and McCullough Avenue around 10:30 p.m. after witnesses reported hearing the crash.

They rushed outside and found a woman lying in the street. The woman was identified as Wendy Armstrong. She was known to be homeless and possibly was in the middle of the road.

Traffic investigators spoke to several people, but none were able to say how the accident happened.

Investigators say the driver fled the scene and they do not have a description of the vehicle.
