SAWS says more than 50,000 gallons of raw sewage spilled into a dry creek bed after a pipe broke at a sewer lift station off Santa Lucia Road.

The spill also fell over the recharge zone of the Edwards Aquifer which is the city's main source of drinking water.

Crews pumped the waste out of the creek bed and hauled it away, but were expected to resume the cleanup process Wednesday.
