Two-alarm fire burns out northside apartment residents

Cause of fast-moving fire not known

A fast-moving fire caused two alarms of trouble for firefighters, and burned 20 people out of their homes.

That fire happened around 12:30 Saturday morning at apartments in the 100 block of Patricia.

Firefighters say when they arrived heavy smoke gushed from two apartments.

They evacuated people from nearby units and fought to get the flames out.

Fire crews called a second alarm and managed to get the fire under control, but not before it had destroyed two apartments, damaged some others and burned out those 20 residents.

Apartment management put the fire victims up in other units.

The cause and damage aren't yet known.
