U.S. Border Patrol agents seize over 4 tons of marijuana

2 separate seizures result in big haul

EDINBURG, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents seized over four tons of marijuana over the weekend, the agency said in a statement.

According to the statement, an abandoned Ford Expedition was found in the Rio Grande, loaded with more than 1,900 pounds on Saturday.

The discovery of 1,700 pounds of marijuana was also made at an immigration inspection at the Falfurrias Station after a K-9 detected the odor coming from a trailer.

Several other seizures made over the weekend totaled the confiscation amount to more than 8,000 pounds.

In all, more than $6.4 million worth of marijuana was seized over the past weekend.
