Affidavit: Laura Whitehead visited 9 doctors in a week in March

Laura Whitehead, 42, was arrested and charged following an investigation that revealed that she visited several doctors for the purpose of getting prescription drugs, a practice known as doctor shopping. According to an arrest affidavit, Whitehead filled 34 prescriptions for drugs that are considered controlled substances.

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – Bexar County resident Laura Whitehead, 42, is accused of visiting several different doctors for the purpose of getting prescription drugs, a practice known as doctor shopping.

According to an arrest affidavit, Whitehead was arrested Thursday as a result of a state investigation that began in August.

State regulators say they discovered Whitehead had visited nine different doctors during a week in March, the affidavit stated.

Investigators said Whitehead filled 34 prescriptions for drugs that are considered controlled substances, including hydrocodone.

The affidavit stated the doctors involved told investigators Whitehead filled those prescriptions without their permission.
