Herman Matamoros charged in death of Jose Medrano

Herman Matamoros, 32, was charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the beating death of a transmission shop owner. The attack also left the owner's son seriously injured.

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police have made a second arrest in the beating death of a West side transmission shop owner.

Herman Matamoros, 32, is charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after investigators said he helped beat 58-year-old Jose Medrano to death and seriously injure Medrano's son, Joseph.

The assault occurred Thursday at Medrano's transmission shop on Castroville Road.

This is the second arrest in the case. David Lee Garcia, 25, is also charged.

There are two other suspects in this case.
