Craddick appointed to Texas Railroad Commission

Buddy Garcia resigned from post Dec. 7

AUSTIN, Texas – Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Christi Craddick to the Texas Railroad Commission, giving her a two-week head start on a post she was elected to in November.

Perry said Wednesday that effective Dec. 17, Craddick will fill the vacancy created by Commissioner Buddy Garcia's resignation.

An attorney and Austin resident, Craddick will remain in the post through December. She will then begin her six-year, elected term as commissioner Jan. 1.

The governor tapped Garcia in April to fill a vacancy on the commission after Elizabeth Ames Jones stepped down to run unsuccessfully for the Texas Senate.

Garcia's term was set to expire at the end of the year, but he resigned Dec. 7.
