SAN ANTONIO – Kevin Miller, 21, is a suspect in at least two cases involving the forgery of checks belonging to elderly victims, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.
Miller was arrested Thursday on two counts of forgery involving the elderly.
However, the affidavit stated that he also is accused of committing a third crime, although no details are given.
The affidavit stated that two women, ages 77- and 89, filed police reports in separate cases in early December after learning that someone had tried to cash their checks without their permission.
In both cases, police said, the checks were in purses that were stolen. One of the women told police her purse was taken from a shopping cart in a store.
The affidavit stated that Miller succeeded in cashing one check. But a clerk at a money cashing business denied the second check after speaking with the victim.
Miller ran from the business after the clerk found out the check was stolen, the affidavit stated.
Police said they identified him through a thumb print he was required to leave on the check.
