Maid Cleotilde Filoteo, husband accused of stealing $8,500 in jewelry from elderly homeowner

Cleotilde Filoteo, Johnie Filoteo charged with theft from elderly

SAN ANTONIO – Cleotilde Filoteo, 53, who worked as a maid, and her 55-year-old husband, Johnie, are accused of stealing from her elderly employer.

An arrest warrant affidavit stated that an 84-year-old woman told police she was missing about $8,500 worth of jewelry, and she suspected that her longtime maid, Cleotilde Filoteo, was responsible.

The woman noticed the jewelry was missing in October and filed the police report.
She told investigators Filoteo, who had worked for her for about 14 years, was one of only a few people with access to it.

The affidavit stated that investigators learned, through an online search, that the maid's husband, Johnie Filoteo, had pawned a large amount of jewelry around that same time.

Police recovered the jewelry which the victim identified as belonging to her, the affidavit stated.

Police arrested the couple Thursday on a charge of theft involving the elderly.
