DWI arrests expected to increase during holiday season

DPS set to increase patrols from Dec. 21-Jan. 1

SAN ANTONIO – Drivers can expect to see more police on area roadways from now until New Year's Day, thanks to increased DWI patrols set to take effect soon.

The Department of Public Safety announced Friday that from December 21 to January 1, more targeted DWI patrols will be launched.

A similar program last year produced over 1,000 DWI arrests, 15,000 speeding violations, 2,000 seat belt violations, and captured over 1,00 fugitives.

SAPD plans to increase its patrols as well.
