Man shot at east San Antonio apartment complex

Victim found lying on the ground in parking lot, suspect at-large

A man was wounded after gunshots rang out at an East Side apartment complex Sunday evening.

Shots were reported around 8 p.m. at the Rosemont at Highland Park apartments in 1300 block of Rigsby.

Sgt. Tina Jones with the San Antonio Police Department said officers arrived and found the victim lying on the ground in the parking lot.

Sgt. Jones said the victim, who appeared to be in his 20s, was shot in the rear and was taken to San Antonio Medical Center. Jones said his injuries were minor.

Officers said the suspect fled after the shooting. Police used a helicopter and dogs to track the shooter down.

"He had some type of assault rifle and was shooting at the victim," said Jones. "We don't know why at this time."

Police believe the victim in this case was the shooter's only target. He remained at large as of Sunday night.
