Investigators said the incident occurred just after 7 p.m. with a call for an officer in trouble at the Springhill Apartments on Ray Bon Drive.

Office Daniel Molina was working off-duty when he heard several shots ring out behind one of the buildings.

When he went outside to investigate, he says a man started shooting at him, took cover behind a soda machine, then took off running.

Molina was not hit.

Another man at the complex told investigators that the shooting stemmed started with an argument outside his apartment.

He told a group of men outside to leave, and that's when they fired the first shots.

He was not hit, but his apartment was damaged.

He says a second man also opened fire, then fled.
