According to the medical examiner, Karla Viesca, 24, was killed almost instantly when her car was struck broadside by a car driven by John Stinziano.
"Her injuries were lethal ... deadly," Dr. Jennifer Rulon testified. "She died very quickly."

Rulon was among state's final witnesses in Stinziano's trial on intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault charges.
Rulon said that several skull fractures were among Viesca's most serious injuries.
"(In) several places, the brain had actually been cut from the skull fractures," Rulon said. "She also had all of the ribs on her right side fractured – all 12 of them."
A toxicologist testified that Stinziano's blood alcohol level was over point 0.20, more than twice the legal limit.
Stinziano plead guilty to both charges as his trial began Tuesday in Judge Melisa Skinner's 290th District Court. He is expected to testify when the trial resumes on Friday.
Since he plead guilty, the jury's only task is to determine Stinziano's punishment.
The punishment range for intoxication manslaughter is from two to 20 years in prison. For intoxication assault, the range is from two to 10 years in prison.
Stinziano is eligible for probation.
