Car struck by train after driver's mistake

No injuries reported, driver said he got stuck making u-turn near AT&T Center Parkway

A car was struck by a train underneath Interstate 35 at AT&T Center Parkway when the driver said he accidentally drove onto the railroad tracks.

The driver told San Antonio police he was headed on the northbound frontage road to I-35 just before 4:30 a.m. when he drove onto the tracks while attempting to make a u-turn. Police said the driver only made it five to ten feet, and got stuck.

The driver and a passenger got out of the car and tried to get help moving it, but a Union Pacific train came down the tracks, and struck the vehicle. Police said no one was injured, but the car was badly damaged.
