Live Oak parents arrested on child abuse charges

LOPD: 2-month-old child of Darrin, Jennifer Bower had broken arm, bruises

A Live Oak couple has been arrested on injury to a child charges after their 2-month-old child was admitted to San Antonio Military Medical Center with a broken arm and bruises.

Live Oak police said they were alerted to the child's condition by SAMMC staff on March 3.

LOPD detectives and a Child Protective Services special investigator interviewed the parents, identified Thursday as Darrin and Jennifer Bower, at the hospital.

According to LOPD officials, the Bowers had no explanation for their child's injuries.

Further examination of the infant revealed several other fractures in different stages of healing, LOPD officials said.

The Bowers were arrested at their apartment on Thursday and booked into the Bexar County Jail on injury to a child charges.

CPS spokeswoman Mary Walker said the infant is in CPS custody in foster care and is doing well. She said the 2-month-old is the only child of the couple. She would not release anymore information.
