Border Patrol agent wounded in fatal shooting in Jim Hogg County

Suspect was wanted in carjacking in Waco

A Border Patrol agent was wounded and a carjacking suspect was killed during a shootout early Thursday in Jim Hogg County.

According to Border Patrol news release, agents were investigating a suspicious vehicle on Farm to Market Road 649 and Chihuahua Road south of Hebbronville when the suspect fired at one of the agents.

Another agent then shot and killed the suspect, who the law enforcement agency said was driving a stolen vehicle and was a suspect in an armed robbery and carjacking in Waco. The suspect's name and the wounded agent's name have not been released.

The wounded agent was airlifted to an area hospital and was released from the hospital Friday.
