Officer suffered broken nose, bruises after scuffle with suspect on Chalmers Avenue

A San Antonio police officer was injured after he got into a scuffle with a man who was being place under arrest.

The officer asked the man for identification, but the man lied and apparently got his mother to lie about his identity as well.

Police determined the man had several outstanding warrants and attempted to take him into custody.

Officers struggled with the suspect and had to call for separate transportation because they believed the man would kick out their patrol car's rear window.

An officer was injured during the incident and suffered a broken nose, cuts and some bruises, police officials said. He was expected to recover.

Police have not said if the man under arrest was the suspected car burglar.
