Off-duty Bexar County deputy accidentally shot in north San Antonio

San Antonio police: Homeowner mistakes Deputy Kristopher Saxon for intruder

SAN ANTONIO – On an off-duty Bexar County Sheriff's deputy who was shot on the north side has been identified as 40-year-old Kristopher Saxon.

San Antonio police investigators have also determined that the shooting was an accident, after he was mistaken for a home intruder.

San Antonio police say the shooting happened Wednesday just after 8 p.m. while Saxon was accompanying his wife, who is a realtor, on a home showing in the 2600 block of Grayson Way.

The homeowner told police she had just gotten out of the shower and did not hear anyone come inside. 

She thought intruders were inside the home and fired a shot that hit Saxon in the shoulder.

Saxon was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He was listed in stable condition Wednesday night.

The woman who shot him will not face charges.
