Man, woman dead in murder-suicide in Pearsall

Man found shot in the head 6 times

PEARSALL, Texas – Frio County Sheriff's investigators say Amaya Namida, 31, shot and killed her common-law husband, Jason Salinas, 60, outside their RV off of Nolan Road before she killed herself around 8:15 p.m. on Sunday.

Salinas had been shot in the head six times.

The bodies were found near two vehicles.

"The body of the female was found next to the driver's side of the white Lexus," said Frio County Sheriff's Deputy Ruben Ybarra. "The male was found inside the dodge with the driver's side open."

Ybarra says neighbors saw the couple arguing earlier Sunday but no one witnessed the shooting.

"We had witnesses that told us the male had been drinking throughout the day and was upset because the female was fixing to leave him," Ybarra said.

With little information to go on, investigators said they are continuing their investigation but it is winding down.

Namida's family has been able to provide some background information to investigators, telling them that she served in the Marine Corps for four years.

"The father of the female informed us that she suffered from PTSD," said Ybarra.

Salinas was from the town of Roma, near the Texas-Mexico border. Namida was from San Antonio.

Ybarra says the couple did not have any children.

People living near the couple's RV say off camera that they didn't know the couple well and that they had only been staying there for roughly a month.
