Police: East Central bus crashes in New Braunfels, no students hurt

NEW BRAUNFELS. Texas – An East Central ISD school bus carrying more than a dozen students was involved in a crash Thursday morning with a DWI suspect in New Braunfels.

New Braunfels police responded to the accident in the 1000 block of Interstate 35 south just after 2 a.m.

A NBPD press release stated a car was stopped in a traffic lane for an unknown reason when the school bus, carrying a total of 14 students, crashed into it.

Police officers stated the bus driver could not avoid the crash. None of the students or the bus driver were injured, but the driver of the car suffered minor injuries.

The release stated the driver of the car was arrested for suspicion of DWI

The school bus was headed back to San Antonio from a school function in Austin.

The three inner lanes of I-35 were closed for two hours while officials investigated the crash.
