Local real estate agents grill to support shelter for abused children
Keller Williams Legacy holds 5th annual "Grilling on the Lot"
SAN ANTONIO – Local real estate agents held a barbecue to support the Children's Shelter of San Antonio on Tuesday.
The 5th annual "Grilling on the Lot" featured real estate agents cooking brisket on an open pit and making barbecue sandwiches for $5.
The Children's Shelter is a private, non-profit organization providing emergency care services to children who have been abused, neglected, abandoned or have experienced a family crisis in San Antonio or Bexar County.
Jennifer Ward of Keller Williams Legacy said their goal was to raise between $2500 and $3000 for the shelter.
"We've been doing this now for four years and so our goal is always to get more out there, to help, [and] you know, to get people fed for lunch," said Ward. "We just like to get out here, help great organizations like the Children's Shelter, and we'd love for you to help us, too."
The event kicked off the company's "Christmas in July" fundraising efforts, which collects toys, clothing and diapers for the shelter.
