Local Tea Party rallies for abolishment of IRS

SAN ANTONIO – A group calling for reform in the IRS and the Obama administration rallied Wednesday, aligning with a national Tea Party protest at the U.S. Capitol.

The River City Tea Party Patriots and members of the San Antonio Tea Party held an afternoon protest at the local IRS Building at Tesoro Drive.

"We come out here today to abolish the IRS because of the abuse of power, the abuse of spending that they're going through and the targeting of the Tea Party Patriots and other conservative groups," said Brandon Burkhardt, the president and founder of the River City Tea Party Patriots. "We've basically had enough and it's time to abolish them and go to a flat tax."

Burkhardt said they held the local protest because some of their members could not make it to the national protest in Washington, D.C.

He said they plan to have another protest in the near future.
