Man uses knife found at store to rob clerk

Suspect sought after robbery Quick Stop convenience store on Blanco

SAN ANTONIO – Police say a suspected robber used a knife he found inside a north San Antonio convenience store to hold it up.

The suspect entered the Quick Stop convenience store in the 8300 block of Blanco around 10 p.m. Tuesday and demanded cash from the owner, police said.

The store owner said he was the only one there at the time, and confronted the crook to keep him from getting to the cash register.

The owner said he felt confident that he could battle him off, until the robber grabbed a kitchen knife that was sitting on top of a cooler.

At that point, he decided to cut his losses, he said.

He opened the cash register and the robber took the money, which the owner estimated at $400.

The suspect fled on foot and took the knife with him, the store owner said.

The owner said he bought the business six months ago, and the robbery comes at a bad time, because his business has been down thanks to construction on Blanco Road directly in front of the store.
