Neighbors follow, ID burglary suspect for police

Cesar Vasquez, 22, charged with burglary

SAN ANTONIO – A 22-year-old man is facing a burglary charge and San Antonio police say it's thanks to neighbors who kept a watchful eye and identified him as the man who broke into a West Side home in May.

Cesar Vasquez was arrested Tuesday and booked into the Bexar County Jail with bond set at $30,000.

Neighbors told officers they chased away two men who they saw carrying a television out of a home in the 2900 block of Saunders Avenue May 19, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

Police said one of the neighbors then followed the men and saw them run into a backyard on Monterey Street, the affidavit stated.

Yet another neighbor later told detectives she also saw the suspects and recognized one as a man who used to date a relative, the affidavit stated.

Police then put that man's picture into a photo lineup, the affidavit stated.

They said one of the neighbors identified Vasquez in that lineup as being one of the burglars, the affidavit stated.
