San Antonio hosts multiple Fourth of July celebrations
Alamo City, surrounding communities ready to party
SAN ANTONIO – When San Antonio celebrates Independence Day on Thursday, there will be no shortage of places where family and friends can gather to celebrate.
The San Antonio Chamber of Commerce is bringing back their fireworks show that debuted last year. The show, which lasts for 20 minutes, features some 4,000 fireworks and has a lot of different effects.
"We've got heat patterns, star patterns (and) we've even got a 'hamburger' shell this year, so they're making them a little bit different all the time," said Neil Schaniott, with Pyro Shows of Tennessee.
Since local military bases have dowsed their fireworks shows, city officials felt like it was their duty to honor military members and their service.
"In Military Town USA, it only makes sense that San Antonio would throw the biggest fireworks party that we can come up with," said the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce's Becky Bridges-Dinnin.
Hemisfair Park opens at 6 p.m. on Thursday with plenty of food, drink and music for the entire family.
Woodlawn Lake will also host its annual celebration.
They will start the day with a dog-friendly 4k walk-run around the park. There will be a carnival for the kids and plenty of food and fun -- along with fireworks at 9 p.m.
The city of Schertz will once again host its 38th-annual Jubilee.
They will not only have food, but a barbecue cooking contest music and a carnival. The day starts with a parade and ends with fireworks.
A fireworks hotline for the Fourth of July holiday has been activated and will remain active until 8 a.m. July 5.
