Fights lead to shooting, stabbing at downtown San Antonio bar

Brothers arrested after stabbing at Cowabunga Bar; Suspect sought in shooting

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police are investigating two crimes at a downtown bar.

Fights inside the Cowabunga Bar in the 400 block of E. Travis led to a shooting and a stabbing late Thursday night, police said.

The first fight broke out when a 29-year-old man got into an argument with two brothers, one 18-years-old and the other 29-years-old, police said.

The fight spilled outside and police say the victim began to taunt the two brothers before the 29-year-old brother pulled out a knife and stabbed him numerous times in the abdomen.

The victim ran to the 100 block of Broadway where he was picked by paramedics and taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center in critical condition. Both brothers were arrested and face aggravated assault charges, police said.

Around the same time, another fight inside the bar led to a shooting. A man in his 20s was shot in the foot and taken to Downtown Baptist Hospital. No one had been arrested for the shooting, police said.

Police are also investigating whether the two crimes are connected.
