Man struck by suspected drunken driver north of downtown San Antonio

Driver arrested on suspicion of DWI after crash on McCullough Avenue

SAN ANTONIO – A man was hospitalized after he was struck by a suspected drunken driver north of downtown San Antonio.

The accident happened just before 2:30 a.m. Friday on McCullough Avenue near Evergreen Street.

According to San Antonio police, a couple was walking down the sidewalk when they noticed a car headed their way.

The couple jumped into the street to avoid the car, but police said the driver panicked and jumped the curb as well.

The pedestrian, a man in his 50s, was struck by the car and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, San Antonio police said.

Police said the driver was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated. Her name has not been released.
