SAN ANTONIO – Fire heavily damaged a duplex at a retirement resort community for seniors Friday morning on the city's North Side.

The fire broke out at 6 a.m. at Independence Village at 20550 Huebner Rd.

Firefighters said four residents were safe and outside the damaged duplex when they arrived.

The blaze gave firefighters problems due to the blaze being in the attic. But they were able to prevent two cars in a garage from being damaged.

Damage was estimated at $200,000.

A cause hasn't been determined, although it doesn't appear the fire was set intentionally.
