SEGUIN, Texas – The missing therapy dog for a 6-year-old Seguin boy with epilepsy is now back at home.

Stevie had disappeared from the family's home.

The Guadalupe County Humane Society said they did not know Stevie had a home when she was adopted out to another couple.

Margarett Svatek, its president and director of volunteer services, said that couple  understands the family's need but are heartbroken to let Stevie go.

"I want to thank them for taking care of her," said Julie Mireles, whose son, JJ has epilepsy.

"I'm just going to let him have his moment," Mireles said.

However, it was learned that Stevie has heartworms.

Svatek said arrangements are being made so the family can continue treatments begun by the couple who had her.

"I will do anything possible to do anything she needs," Mireles said.

She said like her son when he's sick, Stevie must be kept calm.

Mireles said, "They're going to go through it together. That's what they were meant to do."
