NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas – A New Braunfels High School student climbed on top of some football stadium lights Wednesday afternoon and refused to come down.

Rescue workers and firefighters rushed to Unicorn Stadium to bring the student down safely.

The school has not released the student's name, age or gender, and did not say why he or she decided to climb up the tower.

The student climbed up around 2 p.m.

Firefighters at one point were using a ladder truck to get to the student, but eventually pulled the ladder down when they were unable to reach him.

They were able to give the student water and a cell phone.

School officials said the school was not put under lockdown, and school will let out at 4 p.m. as usual.
