The school has not released the student's name, age or gender, and did not say why he or she decided to climb up the tower.

The student climbed up around 2 p.m.

Firefighters at one point were using a ladder truck to get to the student, but eventually pulled the ladder down when they were unable to reach him.

They were able to give the student water and a cell phone.

School officials said the school was not put under lockdown, and school will let out at 4 p.m. as usual.
