Many factors can cause prostate cancer.

Age is one risk factor contributed to prostate cancer. According to WebMD, 80 percent of cases are diagnosed in men over 65 and less than 1 percent of the cases are diagnosed in men under 50. However, men younger than 50 can still get prostate cancer.

According to WebMD, doctors don't know exactly what causes prostate cancer, but they generally agree that a man's diet adds to their risk. According to the website, men whom consume large amounts of fat from red meat are more likely to develop advanced prostate cancer.

WebMD also states that workers who are frequently exposed to cadmium seem to be more vulnerable to prostate cancer.

Also, men with low levels of physical activity and those who smoke are at higher risk of developing prostate cancer.
