Woman's body found in NW Side backyard pool

Neighbors: Home belongs to Mexican singer Vicente Fernandez

SAN ANTONIO – The body of a woman who police say appeared to be in her 40s was found floating in the backyard pool of a fashionable home in the 3900 block of Fawnridge Drive Monday morning.

"We were given information that there was a homeless woman in this area and that she was seen on several occasions," said San Antonio police Sgt. James Lint. "The last time anybody saw her was Saturday afternoon."

The body was discovered by a pool maintenance man according to Lint.

Lint said the home has been vacant for 10 years but is maintained regularly by the pool man and a gardener.

Neighbors say the home is owned by an internationally known Mexican singer.

"The home belongs to Vicente Fernandez, the singer from Mexico," said neighbor Della Moore. "He owns several properties in our neighborhood."

Lint said that there were no signs of foul play.

"She's got what appears to be ... underclothing on, as if she had gone into the pool herself," he said.
