Alleged cop shooter booked into jail

Jessie Hernandez Jr. charged with aggravated assault against a public

Though he too was shot, the suspect accused of shooting two Selma police officers has already been booked into jail.

SAN ANTONIO – Despite being in the hospital, Jessie Hernandez Jr. was still booked into the Bexar County Jail Friday.

He's been charged with aggravated assault against a public servant after allegedly shooting at two Selma police officers Thursday night.

It happened in a home in the 9000 block of Pinseeker in Selma.

According to Selma city officials both officers, Officer Kierum and Corporal Balderamas were in surgery on Friday. He said they both should be OK.

Hernandez shot the officers in the living room of the home, and then was shot twice by one of them.

Kierum took a bullet to her face, while Balderamas was shot in his leg.

All three were rushed to a hospital.

Detectives meanwhile worked to collect evidence.

Selma City Administrator Ken Roberts said officers found a number of weapons after going through the home.

"Not only was the pistol used to harm our two officers, but a large cache of weapons in the upstairs bedroom (were siezed)," he said. "To the best of our knowledge, none of those were involved in the shooting -- just the handgun he had."
