Man shot, critically injured by attempted robbers

Police say victim gunned down after telling men he had no money

A man is in critical condition after four suspects attempted to rob him on the city's West Side.

SAN ANTONIO – A man is in critical condition after four suspects attempted to rob him, then shot him on the city's westside.

It happened just before 11 p.m. Saturday in the 100 block of Groff.

According to police, four suspects riding in a grey Oldsmobile pulled up to two people walking down Groff.

One of the suspects got out of the car, pulled a gun out and demanded money.

Police say when the man told them he did not have any money the suspect shot him once in the chest.

They say the four attempted robbers then took off.

EMS says the bullet went through the victim's chest and out his back.

They transported him to University Hospital in critical condition.

Police are now searching for the shooter and the other suspects,
