Mayor Julian Castro in Miami to honor NBA Finals bet

Mayor Castro to help with community service, serve food to veterans

SAN ANTONIO – Mayor Julian Castro traveled to Miami this week to honor an NBA Finals bet.

Mayor Castro made the friendly wager with Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez based on the outcome of the NBA Finals between the Spurs and Heat.

The losing mayor would do a day of community service wearing the winning team's jersey.

Mayor Castro and Mayor Gimenez plan to build nine extra-large garden beds for growing fruits and vegetables, and paint picnic tables on Wednesday.

Castro will also get in the kitchen to help feed some veterans at the Miami Fisher House. He will serve food to veterans from San Antonio's Mi Tierra Restaurant.
