San Antonio library board to discuss filtering online material
Public hearing to be held Wednesday at Central Library Auditorium
SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Public Library Board of Trustees will hold a public hearing Wednesday afternoon to discuss the library's current internet use policy.
As it stands now, there is no filtering content on the internet at any San Antonio library.
District 8 Councilman Ron Nirenberg is proposing installing devices to prevent children from looking at pornographic material online.
Nirenberg is especially looking at getting San Antonio in compliance with the Children's Protection Act.
This would include installing filters to prevent children from looking at pornographic material online.
The public hearing will be held Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. inside the Central Library Auditorium located at 600 Soledad.
Residents who wish to speak need to sign up from 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
