Police said the incident happened Friday night just after 11:30 p.m. in the parking lot of a Motel 6 located in the 16,500 block of Interstate 10 West.

According to police, the parents were arguing and tugging the infant back and forth when the baby fell to the ground.

Police said that's when a man, who witnessed the entire incident, pulled out a gun and told the parents to sit down while he called police.

When officers got to the scene, they arrested both parents for child endangerment and injury to a child.

The infant was immediately taken to University Hospital and was last reported as having "head injuries."

As for the witness, he had a concealed weapon permit and will not face any charges for holding the parents at gunpoint.
