SAPD: Driver smashes truck into Valero, steals two cases of beer

Beer run leaves behind $6,000 in damages at Valero in south San Antonio

Valero smash and grab

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police said a driver backed his truck into a South Side Valero store and took off with two cases of beer early Monday morning.

Police responded to the smash-and-grab around 1:30 a.m. at the Valero Corner Store in the 1200 block of Probandt Street.

Officers said the suspect was seen on surveillance video repeatedly backing into the front doors of the store.

He then stole a 12-pack and an 18-pack of beer. Damages were estimated between $6,000 and $7,000, police said.

The truck didn't have a rear license plate, but police hoped other camera angles might have caught a front license plate, or a better look at the driver.
