San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame announces Class of 2014

2 Spurs legends, Spurs team owner, youth team to be inducted

The San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame announced it's Class of 2014 that includes two Spurs legends, a former Spurs team owner and a local youth sports team.

Stan Albeck, Artis Gilmore, Joe Strauss Sr. and the 2009 McAllister Park Little League baseball all-star team make up the Class of 2014.

Albeck coach the Spurs in the early 1980s and led the team to three Midwest Division championships.

Artis Gilmore was one of Albeck's star players. Gilmore played for the Spurs from 1982-1987 and a total of 17 years in the ABA and NBA, with 11 All-Star appearances.

The late Joe Straus Sr. was an original member of the Spurs' ownership group and remained on the franchise's ownership board until he passed away in 1984.

The 2009 McAllister Park all-stars captivated the city during a run to the Little League World Series in Pennsylvania. They lost in the U.S. title game and finished fourth overall.

The San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2014 will be inducted at a ceremony at the Alamodome on Feb. 1.
