A small plane en route to New Braunfels crashed in Kansas on Friday morning, Killing the pilot and its passenger.

The Cessna 500 Citation 1 was registered to Dr. Edward Dufresne, a traveling minister with World Harvest Church in Murrieta, California.

According to the itinerary on the church's website, Dufresne was scheduled to speak Friday night at the Word & Spirit Church in Schertz.

"He had the ability not only to speak but to open the hearts of people," said church goer Janet Dublin.

Many congregants were still in shock late Friday over what they called a big loss for the church.

"Devastated, (I knew) was being told the truth but I couldn't comprehend it. It was very heart wrenching," said Shirley Irvin, a member of the Word and Spirit church.

Pastor David Buesinger said he knew both Dr. Dufresne and pilot Mitchell Morgan.

"Our hearts go out to his wife of many years his children and his grandchildren and his ministry," said Pastor Buesinger.
