Rally on Alamo Plaza brings out hundreds of gun rights supporters

Police keep close watch as hundreds gather to supports gun rights

Armed forces descended on The Alamo Saturday for the latest skirmish in the gun rights battle.

Hundreds of gun rights supporters, many carrying rifles on the shoulders, gathered for their cause.

Speakers, included Texas Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson, rallied the troops with talk of continuing gun rights and fighting against gun control efforts.

San Antonio police chief Bill McManus led a number of officers on the scene.

McManus said the heavy police presence was warranted, though he said they did not expect any problems.

After the Alamo rally gun supporters planned a short march to Travis park.
