SAPD officer injured in West Side shooting

Two suspects arrested in officer attack

An SAPD officer is injured and two suspects in police custody after a gunfire attack on the city's West Side.

Police say that officer responded to a call for gunshots around 5:30 a.m. Saturday near Rodriguez Park off Old Highway 90.

They say when the officer arrived at the scene he followed a vehicle and that's when the suspects in the car fired shots at his patrol car.

One round went through the windshield and hit the officer's laptop, causing it to explode and shatter.

Investigators say glass from the laptop cut the officer's face and went into his eye.

He was taken to University Hospital.

Police later received a call from neighbors about someone knocking on doors.

They responded to the call and found two suspects.

Police arrested them and believe a third suspect is still on the loose.
