Clemens HS student with Down Syndrome crowned homecoming queen

Cristina Maria Kazmierczak voted by her classmates as Clemens High School 2013 homecoming queen

SCHERTZ, Texas – A Clemens High School student got the surprise of her life Friday night after being crowned homecoming queen by her classmates.

Cristina Maria Kazmierczak may have Down Syndrome, but that doesn't hold her back from being active in school activities. She's a member of the high school dance team and other activities.

The multi-talented young lady is also a member of the National Honor Society, and Friday night she was voted by her classmates as Clemens High School 2013 homecoming queen.

"She's surprised, very surprised, all the kids have been very good to her," said Cristina's mother, Aida Kazmierczak.

Cristina was so happy when she was crowned on the football team next to her parents, she wanted to tell all her classmates who voted for her, "Thank you very much for being there for me and to support me."

Cristina plans on attending Lakeview College after graduation.
