Woman working to spread awareness of domestic violence

October is domestic violence awareness month and Kisha Ward is trying to spread the word.

Ward is the founder of the "Please don't silence domestic violence."

She's no stranger to the dangers it brings. Ward was in an abusive relationship and barely got out of it alive.

"I left my relationship almost without my life. He shot me and I'm paralyzed," said Ward.

Ward dedicates her times and voice to try and help others. In April of last year, she started up a Facebook page.

"I use my voice as a tool to share my story, bring awareness, give warnings signs and help educate others." Ward said.

Ward knows the month is almost over, but says she'll continue spreading awareness.

She believes she was blessed to keep her voice and plans to continue using it.
