Police said Santos Yanes, Jr., faced a felony charge of aggravated sexual assault. After being questioned by police, he was brought to the Bexar County Jail.

Carrying just a water bottle, Yanes was escorted to a police car.

Investigators said he was picked up earlier Thursday after the victim came forward and told police she was brutally beaten and sexually assaulted by him back in September.

"This was after several days of a brutal beating both again sexually and physically assaulting this woman and based on all the evidence and all the information we were able to obtain from the victim herself and be able to see the injuries that she had sustained from this beating the officers were then able to go to a judge and with this compelling information be able to obtain an arrest warrant," said Sandy Gutierrez from the San Antonio Police Department.

Investigators were not releasing how the suspect and victim know each other.
They said the victim was not picked at random.
