Atascosa standoff ends when suspect's dad coaxes him out
21-year-old fired shots at constable, stayed in house for two hours
The Atascosa County Sheriff's Office says a Tuesday afternoon standoff started when a constable tried to stop a 21-year-old man who was speeding.
The pursuit ended on Brite Lane, west of Highway 16, north of Poteet.
The man reportedly hopped out of his truck, ran into his house and came back with a shotgun, firing at the constable. He then ran back into the house and fired at least ten more times from inside.
The officer's pickup was hit, but he was not injured in the gunfire.
The man stayed inside the house for almost two hours but eventually surrendered when his dad stepped in, talking him down on a P.A. system.
The suspect was taken into custody and is expected to be charged with attempted capital murder of a police officer. The suspect's name has not been released.
