Many San Antonio stores opening on Thanksgiving
Major stores announce earlier shopping hours on Thanksgiving Day
Each day, new announcements are being made by major stores that could affect how you will spend your holiday and your holiday budget.
The most recent announcement was by Walmart, which on Tuesday said it will not open at 8 p.m. as originally planned, but two hours earlier at 6 p.m.
The same goes for Best Buy.
Keith Allen, a local general manager at the Best Buy on 410 and San Pedro, explained, "Over the past several years, the customer's voice has told us, 'Hey, we want to get in there early,' so we're going to open the doors early. We're going to have specials on Thanksgiving Day, Thanksgiving night (and) Friday, all day."
Among the customers considering taking advantage of the bargain shopping is Valerie Nolan.
"With four kids and a huge family, I am going have to get those savings," she said.
On the other end of the spectrum is the store that Mary Moreno manages, Academy Sports and Outdoors.
Academy plans on being closed all day on Thanksgiving Day.
"We wanted our associates to spend time with our friends and their family. It's very important. We are all about fun. When you come in here, that's what you think about: Fun and family. Holidays are important to us," said Moreno.
Shopper Andrea Forest says she has reason to support the decision.
"I used to work at a movie theater and had to work on the holidays away from my family (so) I really feel for the employees who have to work and not get to spend it with their family," she said.
