Massive house fire causes power lines to spark in west San Antonio

Cause of fire on W. Houston unknown, no injuries reported

A massive fire at a home west of downtown San Antonio caused power lines to spark early Wednesday morning.

The fire broke out a home in the 3800 block of West Houston Street just before 5 a.m.

Fire crews arrived but were forced to stand back because of sparking power lines. CPS Energy crews turned off the power lines and firefighters were able to get the fire under control.

Neighbors say the home was vacant, but they have seen homeless people in there before. A man who lives next door told KSAT he initially thought it was his home on fire and evacuated his family.

No injuries were reported and damage estimates were unknown early Wednesday. SAFD officials are investigating what caused the fire.
