Toyota of Boerne making Thanksgiving special

Dealership hands out thousands of turkeys to troops

Employees of Toyota of Boerne paid tribute to some of our troops by handing out frozen turkeys in their parking lot Friday.

The dealership got help from the local community and from Walmart.

"We just want them to know we are thinking about them and we love them and we appreciate them keeping us free," said Vic Vaughan, owner of Toyota of Boerne.

"It's really nice (and) we appreciate it. I know our families really appreciate it, too," said U.S. Army Spec. Nicholas Parker.

It is the fourth year the dealership has given turkeys to members of the military past and present and spouses of those serving.

"We plan all year long and it's a little bit of a chore until the day comes and then you say, 'OK, that's right, I forgot it's that much fun,'" Vaughan said.

"This has been a big event for my unit to come out here from the 512th Engineer Detachment and U.S. Army South," said U.S. Army Sgt. Roald Riva.

The dealership handed out thousands of turkeys.

"We are happy to help them bring any ray of light to their holiday, " Vaughan said.
