SAPD: Employee shoots, kills man at West San Antonio bar

Barton's Boozery employee said he felt threatened by patron

SAN ANTONIO – A fight at a West Side bar turned deadly Thursday morning when a man was shot and killed.

San Antonio police say a patron at Barton's Boozery in the 7000 block of West Military Drive apparently became upset when someone took his keys because the patron had too much to drink.

The bar patron allegedly pulled out a gun and an employee felt threatened. Police said the employee also pulled out a gun and opened fire on the bar patron.

The bar patron was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the man was in his mid 40s, but his name had not been released as of 6 a.m. Thursday.

An investigation into the shooting is ongoing and charges were unknown early Thursday.
